Marine Week | Detroit

October 1, 2018

From music to drill to deployment of forces from air and sea, watch Marines show the city of Detroit what we're all about at Marine Week.

This is the first of two exhilarating MAGTF demonstrations being held on the Detroit River. The MAGTF demonstration is a military operations simulation that showcases an amphibious mission of the Marine Corps.

The purpose of this demonstration is to exhibit the coordination of all four components of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force, featuring rotary aircraft, combat rubber raiding crafts and Marine infantry.

A pre-event show, beginning at 1:15 p.m., will feature Marine Band San Diego, the Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon, and martial arts and K-9 demonstrations. The band will also perform after the MAGTF show.
Marine Week Detroit will bring the American Veterans Traveling Tribute Vietnam Memorial Wall to Hart Plaza. The wall is a scaled down version of the Washington, D.C. monument.

The public can view the wall from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. – noon. on Sunday. A pinning ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, where Marines will honor local Vietnam veterans with commemorative pins while paying tribute to those who lost their lives in the Vietnam War.
